Stronger Together: A Conversation with Harry and Alex

Alex Glover and Harry Baucutt Boys’ Club Vice-Captains Harry and Alex are this year’s Boys’ Vice Captains at Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club. Both have taken different paths into the squad, but share the same commitment to the team and to supporting those around them. At this year’s County Championships, both swimmers achieved Regional qualifying times in the 50m backstroke — a moment made even more memorable by the genuine excitement each showed for the other’s success.

Carmel Parker has been part of Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club for many years. As Club Secretary, she plays an important role behind the scenes helping the club run smoothly while continuing a long family connection with the sport. Tabitha Pickersgill is this year’s Girls’ Club Captain at Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club. Alongside her own training and competitions, she helps support younger swimmers and plays an important role in encouraging the team spirit that makes the club special. A Lifetime in the Water: A Conversation with Paddy O’Toole

Paddy O’Toole is one of the familiar faces at Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club. A long-standing member of the club, she has supported swimmers in many different ways over the years — as a swimmer, an official, and a volunteer who has helped others gain lifesaving qualifications. Laurence Wynne-Jones is the 2026 Boys’ Club Captain at Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club. Known for his strong work ethic in training, he has worked hard to achieve county qualifying times in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke. Jo Higgon has been a familiar face at Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston Swimming Club for many years. A former Head Coach and now Assistant Head Coach, Jo has played a central role in developing generations of swimmers at the club. From Swimmer to Role Model: A Conversation with Jasmine Hall-Barnett

Jasmine Hall-Barnett is one of the club’s experienced swimmers who is now beginning to support the next generation. After recently qualifying as a pool lifeguard and swimming teacher, she has started helping with younger swimmers during group sessions while continuing to train and compete herself. Essex Mini-League 2025 - Round 3

13 May 2025

Harwich Swimming Club travelled to Dagenham on Saturday to compete in round 3 of the Essex Mini League, competing against Barking & Dagenham, Brentwood, City of Southend and Woodham. The team was largely inexperienced and young but did not disappoint in their effort and enthusiasm with some swimmers competing in older age groups. Finn Muldoon kicked off the first places in the 11 & under 50m backstroke, in a new personal best time of 42.

Essex League – Round 3

Harwich Swimming Club travelled to Hornchurch last weekend to compete in round 3 of the Essex League, looking to build on the previous week’s success at the Essex Mini League, and the swimmers did not disappoint. Competing against hosts Hornchurch, Halstead, Runnymede, Witham and Dunmow Atlantis, Harwich were more than up to the challenge with the gala one of the closest fought competitions of recent years. First places were hard to come by.

Essex Mini-League 2025 – Round 1

Harwich swimming club were in top form when they travelled to Witham to compete in the first round of the 2025 Essex Mini League. Other teams competing were Borough of Southend, Witham, Clacton and Woodham. With many young swimmers competing for the club for the first time they did not disappoint and the hard work in training paid off with swimmers cutting seconds off their personal bests. 15 first places and 13 second places secured Harwich the top spot with 170 points, with BOSS a close second with 166 points.

Essex League – Round 2

01 Feb 2025

Harwich Swimming Club travelled to Basildon to compete in round 2 of the Essex Swimming League. With some of the older swimmers unavailable and some swimmers competing despite illness, this was felt to be quite a challenging event. However as always the team stepped up to the mark with many swimmers competing out of age group and everyone giving 100% as always. Harwich were competing against Chelmsford, Brentwood, Hornchurch, Halstead and Dunmow Atlantis.

Who We Are Harwich, Dovercourt & Parkeston Swimming Club (HDPSC) is a community-focused, competitive swimming club based at Dovercourt Swimming Pool. We provide a clear, supportive pathway for swimmers of all ages — from Learn to Swim, through Development and Potential squads, to our highest-level Performance pathways.
